Arsenal are closing in on the signing of French defender Sebastien Squillaci from Sevilla, according to The Mirror.
The defender was withdrawn from Sevilla's Champions League qualifier on Wednesday night ahead of a potential move to the Emirates.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been trying to strengthen his defence this summer after losing William Gallas, Philippe Senderos and Mikael Silvestre at the end of last season.
Having brought in Laurent Koscielny from Lorient, the Gunners have also been linked with Everton's Phil Jagielka and Werder Bremen's Per Mertesacker, but it now appears as though Squillaci could be the player to strenghten their backline.
