Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has urged the Catalan giants to compete a deal for Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano.
The World Player of the Year is good friends with Mascherano, and is keen to join forces with his Argentina team-mate at club level.
Messi believes that Mascherano, who is valued at £25 million, would be a perfect fit for the La Liga giants.
"The 'little captain' would be a great boost for Barca,” Messi said, according to The Sun.
"He has the quality to play for Barcelona and his character would fit in perfectly at the club."
The 26-year-old has expressed his desire to leave Liverpool due to family reason and his representative claims that he would be happy to make the Nou Camp his new home.
However, Barcelona have only offered Liverpool £12m plus former Arsenal star Alexander Hleb in a potential deal for Mascherano.
