Edwin van der Sar confident World Cup 2010 stars can fire Manchester United to Premier League success
Dutchman also sure Chelsea win sets perfect platform

Van der Sar, 39, watched from home as Wayne Rooney, Patrice Evra, Nemanja Vidic, Park Ji-Sung and Javier Hernandez enjoyed mixed fortunes in South Africa. All were granted a months rest by manager Sir Alex Ferguson ahead of the new season and the Netherlands record caps holder was sure this guarantees the perfect preparation.
Speaking to United's official website, Van der Sar said: “The boss did well to give them at least four weeks - that’s the minimum you need.
“The first week after a tournament you’re down if you don't win it. Then you have to start enjoying your holiday and the last week you’re already thinking and preparing for coming back.
"Of course the moment they’re here they want to play the games, but we’ve got a big squad and a lot of players are capable of filling in for the first couple of games.”
United got their campaign off to the perfect start with a 3-1 victory in the Community Shield against Chelsea. Van der Sar also insisted beating such a high calibre opponent has added to the feel good factor.
He added:“It’s always nice to beat your rivals and make your intentions clear for the new season; that we’re ready to go.
“I’ve played against Portsmouth [in the Community Shield] and it has less of an impact than playing Chelsea.”
