Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson rued Arsenal's late equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Anfield, but praised his side for a hard working display with 10-men for more than half the game.
Joe Cole was sent off on his Premier League debut for the Reds following a lunge at Laurent Koscielny just before the break, yet it was the hosts who took the lead when David Ngog smashed home on 46 minutes.
Pepe Reina literally handed Arsenal a point though when he fumbled Tomas Rosicky's cross into his own net in the 92nd minute.
"I am a bit disappointed to lose two points, it was a good performance," Hodgson told Sky Sports after the game.
"I thought the boys worked very hard, even at 10-men we created some good chances to score in the second-half.
"You couldn't say it was rearguard action, we had good chances of our own. I'm a bit disappointed [the performance] didn't lead to a fantastic three points."
Hodgson refused to criticse referee Martin Atkinson on Cole's red card, but did feel sympathy for his number No.10.
"There was no intention from Joe [Cole] to foul the player, that's out of the question," he added.
"He was trying to block the ball, in real time it was very difficult to have a clear opinion about it.
"In those challenges where people throw themselves to stop balls and unfortunately there's a collision between player and defender, the ref [referee] often sees it as being a worse foul than it was.
"I'm pleased to see the player [Koscielny] was not badly hurt."
