Scot admits Toffees deserved Ewood Park defeat...

Everton manager David Moyes blamed his toothless attack for not getting goalkeeper Tim Howard out of jail after his slip let in Blackburn Rovers.

The American shot-stopper's fumble allowed Nikola Kalinic to grab the only goal in the 1-0 defeat for the visitors. Although, Everton controlled possession it took until deep into injury time at the end of the game for Phil Jagielka to force Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson into action.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Moyes highlighted his meek midfield and strikers as the main difference between the sides.

"Blackburn only lost three games at home last year and one of them was against us. We knew it would be tough and Blackburn did a job on us today and made it hard," he said.

"We certainly didn't deserve anything from an attacking point of view and we never caused Paul Robinson any problems today.

"The disappointment comes as I didn't think we created our share of crosses and shots. You have to credit Blackburn as they were hard to get through."

The Scot continued that his charges must buck up their ideas going forward if they are to fulfil their potential.

"[We were] Possibly a little bit unfortunate to lose but we didn't do enough to win," Moyes stated.

"A mistake cost us, but that's what happens in the Premier League with the quality of the players. If you make a mistake you can be chasing the three points.

"We didn't attack well enough. I thought the defenders did a good job and were under pressure at times as Blackburn made it hard [for us].

"We were always chasing the goal and never really played well enough to deserve the win."
