Celtic have insisted that Manchester City forward Craig Bellamy is beyond their price range, unless he agrees to a large cut in wages, according to a report from The Daily Record.
Bellamy is believed to currently earn £90,000 a week, but the Glasgow giants have apparently insisted that they can pay no more than £30,000 a week of his wages.
Unless City are willing to accept that kind of financial hit, then a loan deal reportedly looks unlikely.
Bellamy expressed doubts on Tuesday that he would make the cut for City's 25-man Premier League squad this season.
He enjoyed a successful loan spell at Celtic in 2005 and Bhoys' manager Neil Lennon is understood to be keen to sign the player.
Cardiff City and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with Bellamy in recent weeks.
