Giovani Dos Santos also sparkles as Redknapp's men triumph...
White Hart Lane, London
Kick-Off 15.00 BST
Minutes later though the Italian side were in front as Palacios' back-pass put Heurelho Gomes under pressure which resulted in a miscued goal kick straight to Fiorentina’s Papa Waigo N'Diaye. The Senegalese striker whipped in a superb cross for Alberto Gilardino to head back across goal and into the bottom right-hand corner past Gomes.
Spurs pressed more after the goal, with Palacios again combining well with Dos Santos who was pulling all the strings in midfield and the 21-year-old helped make the equalising goal, with a lot of help from Gianluca Comotto, as the Italians suffered their own defensive mix-up with Dos Santos robbing the ball off the hesitating Comotto to run through on goal and neatly square the ball to Roman Pavlyuchenko to roll the ball into an empty net for a deserved equaliser.
The lead didn’t last long though. Nine minutes later the otherwise anonymous Jermaine Jenas let Cristiano Zanetti calmly play the ball out to the left-hand side to allow Marco Marchionni to deliver a perfect lofted pass into the six-yard box for the unmarked, onrushing Adam Ljajic to volley home sweetly past Gomes to take the Florence-based side into half-time ahead.
Dos Santos continued his fine pre-season form into the second half as again he was the brightest aspect of the north London side, but it was two second-half substitutes who combined to again bring Spurs level as Tom Huddestone, despite being urged vehemently by the crowd to shoot, played a slick defence-splitting pass through to Robbie Keane who took one touch to steady himself and the second saw the ball placed across Sebastien Frey and nestle into the far side netting for his third goal of pre-season.
Spurs twice came close to taking the lead as Dos Santos first teed up Palacios for an ambitious effort that whistled just wide, and then a Huddlestone free-kick, won by the Mexican, was clawed out of the top corner by a fantastic Frey save.
Pavlyuchenko had the ball in the back of the net after 68 minutes, but he strayed just offside as Keane cleverly found enough space inside the area to drill the ball the Russian’s way to tap in from four yards out as the lineman raised his flag.
With Spurs going all guns blazing it was Kranjcar’s time to test Frey, but his low shot nipped off a Fiorentina defender and hit the post. The Croatian was again in the centre of the action as Danny Rose won a free-kick on the edge of the area that Kranjcar sent sailing into the top corner before Frey again foiled Spurs to push the ball out for a corner.
But as the game headed towards 90 minutes with a draw looking likely, Spurs finally made their dominance count as second-half substitute Jake Livermore's through ball caught the Viola defence napping and Keane was more than happy to latch onto the pass and slot past Vlada Avramov to win the game for the Champions League debutants and to end their pre-season on a high.
