Liverpool and West Ham United target Loic Remy flies in for talks with Stoke City
In-demand French forward set for discussions with Potters...
By Alex Richards
The uncapped Frenchman, who has been named in Laurent Blanc's first international squad, has been the subject of bids from both West Ham United and Liverpool this summer, but Tony Pulis' side would now appear to be at the head of the queue.
Pulis has seen Stoke consolidate their position in the Premier League since their return to the top-flight two years ago, and is now keen for his side to push on, and is looking to add substantial firepower to his squad this summer, having already seen a £9m bid for Carlton Cole reportedly turned down by West Ham.
Therefore, the Potters boss has turned his attention to Remy, for whom West Ham had an offer turned down earlier in the summer, as Nice didn't want the fee paid in installments.
And Nice general manager Patrick Governatori has said that Stoke are now in pole position to sign the French forward.
Governatori told L'Equipe: "If the Liverpool trail has been abandoned and the West Ham one has clearly got colder, Stoke should get into position. And Rennes are still remaining."
Should Remy move to the Britannia Stadium, he would become the Potters record-signing, eclipsing the £5.5 million paid for former Reading striker Dave Kitson in 2008.
