Arsenal defender Johan Djourou: We need Cesc Fabregas to stay
Swiss centre-half pleads with star to stay...
By Joe Whitbread
Fabregas has been heavily linked with the Spanish giants this summer and Arsenal have already turned down two bids for the playmaker.
Arsene Wenger is confident he can keep his captain at the club but the 23-year-old has reportedly told his Spain international team-mates that he is looking to move to his boyhood club.
Djourou is also hopeful the club can hold on to Fabregas for at least another season as Wenger's team look to end their five-year drought for a major trophy.
"We all know that Fabregas is an important player for us. He is a great player," the defender told Sky Sports.
"It is vital that he stays with us so we can keep the team together because that's the most important thing - that we keep all the players.
"We need him. It's his decision and we can't do anything about it but I hope he stays.
"We can't wait to get the season started.
"Now we are ready to deliver. We have been saying this for years but we have been missing that little bit.
"Now I believe we are ready to push for first place. We want to be up there. We now have the quality to do it."
