West Ham United have rejected Stoke City's £9 million bid for striker Carlton Cole, as they fight to keep hold of their England international.
According to The Sun, Potter's chief Tony Pulis has reportedly submitted a number of previous offers and is willing to continue to increase the transfer fee to land his number one transfer target.
The Hammers recently turned down a £8m bid from Tottenham Hotspur for midfielder Scott Parker, as manager Avram Grant fights to maintain his prized assets ahead of the new season.
Earlier this year, co-owner David Sullivan said everyone at West Ham, barring Parker, would be allowed to leave for the right price.
Meanwhile, Grant hopes to conclude a deal for centre-back Tal Ben Haim within the next few days. The Portsmouth defender failed a medical, which prevented the 28-year-old from signing a four-year deal, but will be allowed to move on loan from the Championship club until January.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen Kenny Dalglish so passive on the touchline - he’s looking rather fed up as United look to see the game out as we head into the final 10 minutes.
