Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas should 'do what he really wants' - AC Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini
Former Gunner says he will support his friend, even if he joins Barcelona...
By Danielle Joynson
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to keep hold of his captain, though, who has been at the London club since he was 14 years old.
The Fabregas transfer saga has gathered pace throughout the summer with conflicting reports suggesting the outcome of the Spaniard's future.
While Wenger remains adamant that his skipper's future lies at the Emirates Stadium, French midfielder Flamini has insisted he will stand by Fabregas, whatever decision he makes.
"I would tell him to to what he feels, because it's a very personal choice and I cannot advise anything," he said, as quoted by the Press Association.
"He will have to do what he really wants. If he stays or goes, I will support him because he is a friend."
Flamini, who faces his former club in the Emirates Cup with AC Milan this weekend, has insisted that he has no regrets having left the Gunners two years ago and denies knowing anything about apparent interest from Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
"I didn't see that [the Aston Villa and Newcastle reports] because I'm in Italy but they are two good clubs," he said.
"Personally, I hope I'm going to play more than what I did in the last year. I hope this year will be better.
"I'm happy to be in Italy, it's a great championship and I'm having a lot of fun. But in football, you never know."
