George Boateng has left Hull City and signed for Greek side Skoda Xanthi on a two-year deal, bringing an end to his 12-year stint in the Premier League.

Boateng, 34, joined Coventry City in 1998 from Dutch side Feyenoord and went on to represent Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Hull City in the top tier of English football.

Boateng had recently been on trial with Celtic and declared that he was "enjoying the experience" of training with the SPL giants.

The holding midfielder, who has eight appearances for the Dutch national side, had also been linked with a move to Premier League side West Bromwich Albion but has opted for a change of lifestyle with the Greek Super League team.

Ooft! Best chance of the game so far goes to Manchester United. Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck are all involved as Ryan Giggs is found in space on the left of the Liverpool area. The Welshman’s inch-perfect cross then meets the head of Scholes, who does well to arrive unmarked inside the box around eight yards out, but he can only power his header straight at Pepe Reina. Great link-up play from United.
