Frenchman eager to boost defensive ranks...Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed he is scouring the globe to land a centre-back to boost his depleted defensive options.
The Gunners lost Sol Campbell, William Gallas and Mikael Silvestre this summer after their contracts expired. Despite the arrival of Laurent Koscielny from French side Lorient and the return of youngsters Havard Nordtveit and Johan Djourou from loan spells, the Frenchman is eager to add another experienced stopper to compliment Thomas Vermaelen.
Speaking to the club's official website, Wenger confirmed he is looking at a number of options before he splashes the cash.
"I wouldn't like to give you any names," Wenger said.
"There are plenty of names that we consider and we analyse. We look at the financial possibilities and the technical potential. But it is impossible for me to come out with a name.
"We are still on the search because at the moment we only have three centre-backs and we have seen last season you needed five.
"I believe we need at least four because we have some other players who can fill in this position but overall we are still on the search."
