Juventus technical director confirms Liverpool interest in Christian Poulsen
Dane could be set for exit door…
By Danny Hart
The 30-year-old is believed to have been a long-term target for the Reds, with their former manager Rafael Benitez having been linked with the Dane last summer before he signed Alberto Aquilani.
A move for Poulsen now appears to be on the cards again after Marotta admitted that the player is attracting attention from the Anfield club.
"Liverpool have shown interest in Poulsen," Marotta told Mediaset after Juventus’ win over Shamrock Rovers.
"But the fact that he did not play in this game is only due to a technical decision."
The comment comes after Goal.com UK revealed that Reds boss Roy Hodgson has earmarked Poulsen as a replacement for Javier Mascherano if he completes his expected move to Inter.
Regarding Juventus’ possible transfer targets this summer, Marotta played down speculation linking the club with Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko, CSKA Moscow’s Milos Krasic and Nicolas Burdisso of Inter.
"Dzeko has been taken out of the market and I think that is a closed chapter," said Marotta.
"Krasic? We could talk about this in the future.
"Burdisso? He's a good player, but we have never presented a similar offer (to £6.3 million). It would be illogical."
