Manchester City and Inter are still yet to reach an agreement over a deal for Mario Balotelli, despite reports the deal was nearly complete.

Sky Sport Italia are claiming that the deal has hit the rocks just a day after the forward's representatives flew to Manchester to negotiate personal details over a £24 million deal.

In what is proving to be one of the most drawn out transfer sagas of the summer, Manchester City were thought to have finally got their man yesterday as a deal came ever closer for the player.

But the news is bound to frustrate City fans and manager Roberto Mancini, who had hoped to have the youngster ready to lead his attack for the big kick off.

Balotelli has a reputation for being hard to handle both off and on the pitch and has had a tough time at Inter. But he has undoubted talent too and Mancini was confident he could harness it having worked with Balotelli when he was manager of Inter Milan.

The deal would also have pushed City's spending this summer towards the £100m mark, having already secured Yaya Toure, David Silva and Jerome Boateng.
