Blackburn Rovers appear to be on the verge of completing a deal to take the Iranian player Andranik Teymourian to Ewood Park, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

Teymourian, who played in the Premiership under Sam Allardyce at Bolton Wanderers, moved to Fulham after his contract at the Reebok Stadium was not renewed but hardly featured for Roy Hodgson’s side and went to Championship club Barnsley on loan in 2009.

Fulham subsequently released the midfielder, who has been capped 31 times, this summer and Teymourian has recently been heavily linked with a move to Sheffield United.

It looked as if the opportunity to sign the midfielder had passed for Allardyce when Teymourian turned down the chance to have a trial with the club during their tour of Australia.

However, the midfielder is understood to changed his mind and has undergone a medical before finalising terms with the club.

Of course, the biggest talking point at Old Trafford will be Patrice Evra and Luis Suarez re-locking horns, with the latter facing United for the first time after receiving an eight game ban for racially abusing the former. Both managers have been outspoken in their defence of their players this week, with Sir Alex Ferguson musing in today's programme notes that his "biggest regret is the way Patrice has been castigated in some quarters for standing up to racism".

As with in the Goal.com towers this week, debate has raged on Twitter as to who Sir Alex Ferguson should pair Wayne Rooney with for today’s showstopper with Liverpool. Chicharito and Danny Welbeck have got their fair share of fans, while Dimitar Berbatov is the romantics’ choice, following his spectacular overhead effort in the corresponding fixture last term. Stoic defenders of Michael Owen seem few and far between though.

Sandwiched between today’s showcase early and late kick-offs – Liverpool’s subplot-ridden trip to Old Trafford and ‘Arry’s return to the hot seat at White Hart Lane – is a set of pretty spicy looking 3pm-ers. Here’s what our Goal.com soothsayers (attending all today’s Premier League games) think will go down.
