Slovakian goalkeeper Jan Mucha is ready to battle Tim Howard to be first choice goalkeeper at Everton this season.
Everton signed the 'keeper, who starred for Slovakia in their successful campaign in South Africa this summer, from Legia Warsaw and the 27-year-old admits he is not wasting time in pursuing the number one spot at Goodison Park.
"Obviously the standard at Everton is higher than before but I haven't come here to sit down and watch," Mucha told the club's official website.
"I expect to compete for the first spot and my ambitions are very high.I have heard about the Premier League, to me it is the best league and I have been watching for a long time."
Mucha could stake his claim this weekend when Everton play Norwich in a pre-season friendly at Carrow Road.
