Manchester United are in the race to sign Aalesund goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard, according to the Norwegian side's director.
Lindegaard, 26, is regarded as one of the most promising shot-stoppers in Europe and has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of United and Denmark great Peter Schmeichel. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to be eyeing the player as the long-term replacement for Edwin van der Sar.
Speaking to Ekstra Bladet, Henrik Hoff confirmed the Scot's interest, but declared Lindegaard would not be allowed to leave on the cheap.
"Manchester United have not been in contact with us directly, but I can confirm that there is an interest," Hoff said.
"There is no smoke without fire. In case a big club like Manchester United show interest in our players, we are ready to negotiate.
"But Anders Lindegaard is in my eyes the best keeper in the Tippeliga and if he should be sold, a big sum will be required."
