By Richard Parry
For the past three days, Goal.com UK has been asking you to voice your opinions on how Roy Hodgson should look to improve his Liverpool squad this summer, and with the votes in, the result is unanimous.
38.56 per cent wanted Hodgson to sign a defender this summer, singling out a new left-back in particular. A further 36.73 per cent wanted to see acquisitions in attack before the start of the new Premier League season, while 20.00 per cent hoped to see the midfield improved, with only 4.31 per cent happy with the strength of the current squad.
And the man you want to see at Anfield next season is...
55.34 per cent chose Fabio Coentrao as the man Liverpool should do their utmost to sign, with the majority wanting to see the Benfica and Portugal star strutting his stuff at Anfield in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
The full-back enjoyed a successful campaign during this summer’s World Cup finals, on a personal level at least, with a series of impressive performances.
In Coentrao, Liverpool would be acquiring a hard working defender, who is not afraid to push forward with the ball. During the finals in South Africa, the Benfica man ran 9.20 miles with the ball at his feet, covering a further 11.41 miles without possession, and reached speeds of up to 16.75 mph.
Coentrao finished ahead of Manchester City’s Wayne Bridge and Wigan Athletic’s Maynor Figueroa in the Liverpool fans' wish-list, with those two receiving 23.08 per cent and 21.57 per cent of the vote, respectively.
Two players who featured in some interesting suggestions for additional signings were Galatasaray midfielder Arda Turan and Atletico Madrid and Uruguay hotshot Diego Forlan.
Nonetheless, the majority wins in this game, and by popular demand, here is the Liverpool starting line-up for next season, as chosen by YOU, the fans...
YOUR SELECTION
The new man slots comfortably into the left back role to form an impressive defensive quartet with Glen Johnson, Jamie Carragher, and Daniel Agger; with Emiliano Insua making way ahead of his anticipated switch to Fiorentina.
Interesting, captain Steven Gerrard has dropped back alongside Alberto Aquilani into the middle of a two-tiered midfield, with new signing Joe Cole playing just behind Fernando Torres, while many of you expecting Javier Mascherano to get his wish and leave the club.

In YOUR team, Ryan Babel gets the nod on the left-hand side, although the a replacement for Mascherano could see Cole occupy the left flank, with Gerrard moving up in support of Torres.
