Petrovic will join a team that includes the likes of Paul Groves, Kevin Keen, goalkeeping coach David Coles and fitness coach Eamon Swift.
Petrovic, 44, is a former Yugoslavian international, who played at the 1998 World Cup as well as for the likes of Sevilla and PSV Eindhoven.
Since retiring as a player, Petrovic has coached in Portugal, Germany and Holland, and also had short spells as a manager at Portugese side Boavista and the Dutch club RKC Waalwijk. In the 2008-09 season he was Martin Jol's assistant at Hamburg.
Grant was full of praise for the newest member of his coaching staff at Upton Park.
"I am happy that we now have the staff set-up that I presented to the owners when I came," Grant told West Ham's official website.
"The aim is to take the team forward with professional, positive people and have a creative atmosphere.
"Zeljko Petrovic has a lot of experience and knowledge as a player and a coach."
