No Wolverhampton Wanderers move for wantaway Chelsea youngster Michael Mancienne - Mick McCarthy
Wolves boss plays down reports of move for former loan star...
By Alex Richards
The Wolves boss has made six signings thus far this summer, but has been constantly linked with a £4 million move for the Blues youngster, who has reportedly has put in a transfer request at his club.
And McCarthy, who used Mancienne predominantly as a holding midfielder last season, said: "I guess people should ask their [Chelsea's] manager Carlo Ancelotti whether we should read anything into the transfer request.
"If I was reading anything into it, I suggest he wants a transfer. But that's the first I've heard about it."
And McCarthy went on to play down the rumours further, insisting that he needs to off-load players before making further additions to his squad.
"I'm not looking at signings at all at the moment," he added.
"We need to lose some players rather than take any more in and certainly won't do any more business unless anyone leaves."
