Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger refuses to be drawn on Barcelona ‘noises’ over Cesc Fabregas move
Gunners boss cools transfer speculation…
By Danny Hart
The Gunners' skipper has been persistently linked with a move back to Barcelona throughout his career since leaving the club for Arsenal as a 16-year-old, but the Spanish champions have stepped up their chase to recapture him this summer.
In the latest on this summer’s biggest transfer saga, Barcelona board spokesman Toni Freixa claimed on Tuesday that Arsenal are simply unwilling to negotiate a potential deal for the World Cup winner to join Barca.
Wenger, who has reiterated throughout the summer that he wants Fabregas to stay at the Emirates, says that although there have been ‘noises’ from Barcelona, a move is still not in place.
"There are still noises from Barcelona, but that is all it is," he is quoted as saying by The Sun.
"In our job you don't worry about things you cannot control.
"We are very happy with Cesc at the club. He is a very important player and is our captain. We have worked very hard with him."
