Liverpool defender Danny Wilson says he would be willing to play anywhere for his new club.

The 18-year-old moved to Anfield from Rangers this summer and could make his Liverpool debut in Thursday’s Europa League qualifier against FK Rabotnicki.

The Reds currently have problems in defence, with their only first team left-back Emiliano Insua set to depart the club to join Fiorentina.

Wilson says he could play at left-back if needed but admits he prefers to play at centre-back.

He is quoted as saying by Click Liverpool: "Last season was my debut season but coming here was a big step up and I understand that. The style of football is a bit different but at the end of the day it's just a game of football.

"I just want to try to do the best I can in my first season here and not try to set any targets in terms of games to play. If I'm selected for games then great but if not I just need to try that bit harder to push myself.

"Other than that I'm just looking to make a good start and force my way into the manager's plans at least.

"I've played at full-back but I wouldn't say that it's my best position. If needs be I can play there and anywhere that the manager picks me.

"My preferred position is centre-back but if need be I'll play left-back, right-back, goalkeeper, wherever."
