Martin O’Neill confirms that Aston Villa have received a bid for Liverpool target Luke Young
Defender pondering over move to unnamed club…
By Danny Hart
The 31-year-old fell out of favour at Villa Park last season, with O’Neill preferring Carlos Cuellar and Stephen Warnock in the full-back positions.
The former Tottenham Hotspur, Charlton Athletic and Middlesbrough defender, who can play at right-back and left-back, could be set to end his two-year stay at Villa after an unnamed club made an offer for him.
Liverpool are looking for a new left-back following the exit of Fabio Aurelio and the expected departure of Emiliano Insua, and they have reportedly offered £2.75 million for Young.
Villa are prepared to allow Young to leave if he wishes but would welcome him in Portugal to take part in the Guadiana Cup.
"There has been an offer from a football club, which Luke is mulling over," O’Neill told Villa's official website.
"If it doesn't materialise then he would also join us [in Portugal] because he needs to play some football soon.
"We will see how that develops."
