West Ham United are looking to prove that they intend to build the club around Scott Parker, offering him a new five-year deal worth £20 million.

Hammers chairman David Sullivan claimed that the entire West Ham squad was up for sale except for Parker, who was a big reason why the club ultimately escaped relegation last season.

The 29-year-old’s play impressed Fabio Capello, who called Parker up to England’s preliminary 30-man squad for the World Cup this summer before omitting him from the final 23 who travelled to South Africa.

Despite Sullivan’s stance that Parker will not be sold, Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill and Tottenham's Harry Redknapp have expressed their interest in the midfield star.

Now Sullivan is keen to have Parker commit his future to West Ham, looking to sign his captain to a five-year deal worth £75,000-a-week, according to The Daily Mail.

Parker, who came to West Ham from Newcastle United for £7m three years ago, having previously played for Chelsea and Charlton Athletic, is loved by Hammers supporters, who voted him the club’s player of the year in each of the last two seasons.

Avram Grant, who replaced Gianfranco Zola as the new manager of West Ham, is keen to keep Parker at the club.

“We want to progress with good players,” said Grant.

“It is very important we have good experienced players and there is no doubt that Scott Parker is one of them. He is a good footballer and has quality.”
