Juventus to offer Christian Poulsen to Liverpool in player-plus-cash deal for Daniel Agger - report
Juventus are set to use Christian Poulsen as bait to tempt Liverpool into selling defender Daniel Agger, according to The Daily Mail.
The Italian giants are looking to strengthen their backline following the exit of Fabio Cannavaro and are reportedly set to move for Agger, who has been linked with a move away from Anfield since the departure of Rafael Benitez.
The Old Lady are believed to be lining up a £4 million move for the Dane, as well as offering midfielder Poulsen as part of the deal.
Poulsen has been a long-term target for Liverpool and was linked with a move to Anfield last summer before Benitez opted to sign injury-prone Alberto Aquilani.
Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has been heavily linked with a move to Inter and Goal.com UK revealed last week that manager Roy Hodgson sees Poulsen as the ideal replacement should the Argentine leave the club.
However, a potential swap deal doesn’t look likely to happen any time soon. Liverpool are still in talks with Fiorentina over the sale of left-back Emiliano Insua, and with no replacement brought in as yet, Agger looks set to stay with the Reds for the foreseeable future.
