Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar insists he is not finished yet
Veteran shot-stopper still enjoying playing football at 39...
By Joe Whitbread
The Dutchman has been a regular between the sticks for the Red Devils since signing from Fulham in 2005 and has notched up 153 Premier League starts for the club.
Van der Sar, 40, signed a one-year extension to his contract in February and is the club's oldest post-war footballer.
But the veteran says he still has the motivation and hunger to play and is planning on helping his team regain their Premier League crown from Chelsea this season.
"I have been hearing these questions for the last three or four years. Sometimes you surprise yourself also. It is a great club to be at," Van der Sar told Press Association Sport.
"You play in the Premier League, the Champions League, you have a chance of winning titles and trophies and competing against the best players in the league.
"It is something that is too good not to do it any more. I still very much enjoy it. Even my age it is still a pleasure to put in all the hard work so you are in the starting XI on a Saturday and a Tuesday night.
"We have a great mix of some senior players and a whole crop of younger players coming through."United emphasise they are a club that produces young players. I can see some who will be here for a long time."
