Tottenham Hotspur ready to hijack Manchester City's move for Aston Villa star James Milner - report
Tottenham Hotspur are ready to launch an audacious bid to hijack Manchester City's £24 million move for Aston Villa star James Milner.
According to the News of the World, the England international is one of three players that Spurs' boss Harry Redknapp is targeting ahead of their Champions League qualifier.
It is also reported that Redknapp has made a £20m bid for Milner's Villa team-mate Ashley Young, while a deal to take Craig Bellamy to White Hart Lane is also thought to be on the horizon.
Now Redknapp is planning to step in if Roberto Mancini's latest bid is turned down by the west Midland's outfit, as City are adamant they will not keep increasing their offer for Milner.
Redknapp is confident that the lure of playing among Europe's elite will be enough to persuade 24-year-old Milner to move to London.
The England midfielder looks set to leave Villa Park this summer after manager Martin O'Neill revealed that if the club's valuation was met, he would not stand in the way of the former Leeds United and Newcastle United man.
Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano also remains a target for Redknapp, while Bellamy could return to the capital for as little as £4 million during City's personell sea-change.
