Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill hints that he may bring Celtic winger Aiden McGeady to the Premier League
Manager admits he needs to sell players in order to buy...
By Chris Davie
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has previously conceded the 24-year-old may be on his way out of Parkhead as he wants a new challenge.
Manchester City have been told that Milner is available for £30 million, although reports suggest that Villa would accept a compromised bid of around £25 million.
The income from Milner’s potential transfer could be spent on luring the Republic of Ireland international to the Midlands club, a deal which could reportedly cost Villa around £10 million.
"I think Aiden McGeady has the ability to play in the Premier League, without question,” O’Neill said at a press conference.
"I had him as a kid at Celtic and played him without worrying too much about his youth.
"There's no point in me mentioning names but, without wanting to lose players of the calibre of Milner, we would want to try to recruit some players.
"But, as the chairman said at the back end of last season, it's probably going to be a case of having to sell to buy and that's something I'm delving into at the moment."
