Liverpool have confirmed that Joe Cole has passed his medical today, and will now sign his four-year contract with the club.

Cole moves as a free agent from Chelsea, where his contract expired at the end of last season.

The Merseyside club also revealed that the England midfielder would wear the No.10 shirt, not the No.7 as was originally reported.

Cole's siging already seems to have had a positive influence on the Anfield dressing room, with skipper Steven Gerrard and senior player Jamie Carragher hailing the star's arrival as a sign that manager Roy Hodgson is showing excellent intent and ambition ahead of the new season.
