FA to slash ticket prices for England's friendly with Hungary

Charm offensive under way...

The FA have knocked a third off the price of tickets for England's friendly with Hungary at Wembley on August 11.

There could also be further reductions on ticket prices for other forthcoming games, as the governing body looks to tempt disillusioned fans back to supporting the national team after the World Cup.

"Nothing is off the table to make sure matches at Wembley are as accessible to England fans as possible,” an FA spokesman told reporters.

"Hopefully the enthusiasm and positivity towards the team that we saw pre-tournament will return as swiftly as possible with some positive results that makes the job of filling the stadium easier, but we wouldn’t rule anything out for future qualifiers or friendlies."

Tickets are already on sale for the Euro 2012 qualifier with Bulgaria in September, but the FA have indicated that they are exploring options to make sure crowds are good for future internationals.

Empty seats at England games would do no favours for the country's bid to host the 2018 World Cup.

“We’re working on a game-by-game basis,” the FA spokesman added.

"Tickets are available for the Bulgaria game but for later qualifiers we can do different things for the prices and arrangements and look to maximise the crowd as much as possible.

"We appreciate the disappointment, anger and frustration and the feeling of being let down and that is obviously going to have an impact on whether they choose to come to Wembley for that first game.

"So we have to do something to encourage them to come and reducing the ticket prices is the easiest and simplest thing to do because a lot of people spent a lot of money going to support England in South Africa."
