Manchester United are believed to have rekindled their interest in signing Werder Bremen midfielder Mesut Oezil.
The 21-year-old performed admirably for Germany during World Cup 2010 in South Africa, helping his country to a third-placed finish in the tournament.
With only one-year left on his current contract with the Bundesliga club, the young midfielder has been heavily linked with moves to other top European clubs this summer - with Real Madrid and Arsenal reported to be interested.
The former Schalke man was in negotiations over a new contract with Werder, but it appears that the talks have stalled - as general manager Klaus Allofs admitted that the two parties had been unable to find a solution.
Now The Sun reports that the Red Devils are keeping tabs on the talented midfielder, since manager Sir Alex Ferguson missed out on bringing him to Old Trafford as a teenager.
It has been widely speculated that Werder could cash in on their star instead of letting him leave on a Bosman transfer next summer.
And it has consequently been reported that the Bremen-based club have now dropped their asking price from £20 million to £12m.
