Rangers veteran David Weir tips Danny Wilson for great things at Liverpool
Defender should settle well south of the border...
By Zack Wilson
Rangers centre-back David Weir is in no doubt that young defender Danny Wilson, who could join Liverpool today, will thrive in the English Premier League with the Reds.
Weir, 40, who starred alongside Wilson at the heart of the Gers defence last season, feels that the youngster has all the attributes to succeed at Anfield.
Wilson won the SFA Young Player of the Year award last season whilst Weir took home the Player of the Year accolade and Rangers won the title.
The Merseysiders could complete the 18-year-old's signing later today.
The SPL champions confirmed on Tuesday that the total value of the offer from Liverpool will climb to £5 million after an initial £2m payment up front.
"Danny will handle it," Weir told reporters.
"He has handled everything else that's been thrown in his path. He's a good football player and a nice lad.
"I don't think it's rocket science, he just needs to keep doing what he's been doing. If Danny does go then he will keep doing what he's doing and stay the same lad that he is.
"He's a great lad, he has been good to work with, and I wish him every success."
