Tottenham and Newcastle are interested as Real Madrid striker Raul seeks a move to the Premier League - report
Raul is set to move to the Premier League this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur considered the favourite to sign the Real Madrid legend.
The former Spain international has turned down advances from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, insisting that he would like to finish his illustrious career in England, according to The Sun.
The 33-year-old, who scored seven goals in 39 appearances for Real last season, is available via free transfer, with Spurs and Newcastle interested in a move for the Spanish hitman.
After losing out on Joe Cole to Liverpool, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is keen to add to his team as they prepare to compete in the Champions League this season.
Raul, who is Real’s all-time leading scorer with 311 goals in 722 games, would like to make a move to a London club this summer, but Newcastle are looking to improve their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League.
The striker’s agent, Barry O’Connor, is adamant that there are clubs interested in his client, but acknowledged that no deal will occur until Real indicate that Raul can move on.
"With a player of this pedigree there is always a lot of interest but nothing will happen until Real Madrid give the official go-ahead that he can leave,” he said.
