Aston Villa are believed to be preparing a £10 million bid to bring in Celtic wantaway Aiden McGeady.

The talented winger has for some time been linked with a move away from Parkhead, and manager Neil Lennon recently conceded that the 24-year-old is looking to leave the Glaswegian club.

The Republic of Ireland international has already been ruled out of his club's tour of North America owing to a thigh injury, and the Bhoys could use this time to consider offers for the player.

Birmingham City were previously thought to be interested in acquiring the winger, but were later reported to have pulled out of the chase.

In the meantime, Spartak Moscow have reportedly had an £8m bid rejected by the Hoops. And now The Mirror claims that Villa are set to swoop in with a £10m offer for the player.

It is thought that McGeady is seen by Villa boss Martin O'Neill - a former Celtic manager - as a replacement for James Milner, should the England international leave for Manchester City.
