Aston Villa winger Ashley Young open to contract extension
25-year-old subject of recent transfer speculation...
By Alex Young
Aston Villa's Ashley Young has dropped a major hint that he is interested in signing a new contract with the club.
Young’s current deal expires in the summer of 2012, and the former PFA Young Player of the Year seems keen to stay at Villa Park for the foreseeable future.
The 25-year-old has consistently been the subject of transfer speculation over the past season with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Liverpool all linked with a move.
"If the contract talks are put forward to me, then of course I will sit down and talk,” Young told Sky Sports News after scoring in Villa’s 3-2 pre-season victory over Peterborough United.
"I have enjoyed my time here [at Aston Villa], I have learnt a lot and I think I have a lot more learning to do under the manager.
"They are the club that gave me my chance. Hopefully I can build on that and we will see what happens."
