Manchester City defender Micah Richards has blasted the rumours saying he is set for the exit door and is 'sick' of reading them.

Richards, 22, has struggled with form and fitness at the cash-rich Blues but has remained a highly rated player in the sport. His potential has seen Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Inter linked with his signature.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, the 11-times capped England international insisted he was staying put at Eastlands.

"I'm getting sick of reading rumours about myself now," Richards said.

"We get linked with a different player every day, and various players in the City team get linked with different clubs.

"But for us, the main focus is on pre-season and working hard to get in the team.

"The transfer speculation is a topic of conversation among the boys. We are not going to lie and say it's not. We have banter about it sometimes, asking each other: 'Where are we going today? Which player is coming in today to replace us?'

"I don't think it can really faze the boys. What will be, will be. If we play, we play. If we don't, we don't.

"All you can do is knuckle down, give 100 per cent and hope you get in the team."

The utility stopper also admitted his disappointment at missing out on World Cup 2010 and vowed to fight his way back into Fabio Capello's squad.

"I wish I'd been there at the World Cup. But I can only work hard this season," he added.

"One of my aims is to get back in there, and I hope I will do.

"I was devastated not to go to South Africa, but it's up to me now. If I knuckle down and achieve the form I'm capable of, then I should have no problem getting back in."
