Roy Hodgson keen to continue Liverpool interest in Valencia's Ever Banega - report

Ever Banega, Valencia (MARCA)
Valencia playmaker Ever Banega is eager for Liverpool to swoop for his signature, according to Las Provincias.

Banega, 22, had been linked with a switch to Anfield as a replacement for Inter and Barcelona target Javier Mascherano. Despite initially struggling at the Mestalla since his switch from Boca Juniors in 2008, he was in impressive form last season and was believed to have been targeted by ex-manager Rafael Benitez.

Benitez's departure at the start of the summer could have derailed any potential move, but it seems new supremo Roy Hodgson is understood to have maintained the club's push for the Argentina youth international and could be ready to add him to his squad.

A bid of around £8.5 million is believed to be enough to push cash-strapped Valencia into a sale.
