Everton striker Louis Saha believes the club must start the forthcoming Premier League in a strong manner should they intend to finish in a position that will provide them with European football for the 2011-12 season.

The Toffees, who play Melbourne Heart on Wednesday as part of their Australian tour, won their opening friendly fixture of the pre-season campaign against Sydney FC on Saturday, and Saha believes it’s imperative they create a winning mentality in pre-season.

"He [Everton boss David Moyes] wants to win every game," Saha told the club's official club website.

"Everyone is focussed on producing a better start and achieving bigger things.

"We missed Europe last season, but that is where we want to be at the end of the season."

When questioned about the arrival of fellow Frenchman Magaye Gueye, Saha admitted the forward was settling in well.

"He [Gueye] has got talent," Saha said. "He has a good touch, and he is adapting well to the new club and new players.

"He has good attributes to do well and he has a good character. I think the main thing is he loves football and you can see that on the pitch."

Saha was Everton's top scorer during last season’s Premier League campaign, scoring 13 goals in 26 starts for the Toffees.
