Darren Fletcher excited by Manchester United new boys Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez
Youngsters backed to impress at Old Trafford...
By Matt Monaghan
Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher can't wait to play with new team-mates Javier Hernandez and Chris Smalling.
The duo are set to make their debuts for the Premier League runners-up during their on-going tour of North America and Mexico after being signed before the end of last season. While Smalling has been impressive in training, Hernandez's two goals at World Cup 2010 caught the Scot's attention.
"Chris has been training for a few days and he's a big, strong, tall lad," Fletcher told MUTV.
"I didn't realise how young he was until he told me, and I think he's got great potential for the future. He's going to be some athlete and when he learns what Manchester United is about he'll become a top player."
"He [Hernandez] looks really sharp," Fletcher added.
"He's young, sharp and looks really hungry. He scored a couple of great goals at the World Cup and I think he'll be a good addition."
Defender Wes Brown also praised Hernandez's displays in South Africa. He said: "Javier did very well at the World Cup, he played really well when he came on.
"Hopefully now he and Chris can fit in nicely and be ready for the new season."
