Premier League give Dan Gosling green light for a free transfer from Everton
But subject to appeal from Toffees within two weeks...
By Adithya Ananth
An independent hearing has ruled in favour of Dan Gosling and not Everton, meaning the youngster is free to leave the club on a Bosman transfer.
The 20-year-old midfielder was subject to a verbal offer of a new deal that was not put on paper - which meant it was not a binding agreement - prior to the expiry of his contract.
The Toffees now have two weeks to launch an appeal against the ruling.
A statement from the Premier League reads: "An Independent Hearing, convened under Premier League Rules, was held last week to look into the contractual status of Dan Gosling.
"Having looked into the matter, and considered the arguments of both Everton FC and the player, it was determined that the player is unattached and entitled to a free transfer.
"This is subject to a right of appeal by Everton FC which must be brought within 14 days of the decision."
