Sunderland join West Ham United in pursuit of Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan - report

Sunderland are believed to have joined the chase to sign Rennes striker Asamoah Gyan.
The 24-year-old scored three times for Ghana at the 2010 World Cup, but missed a stoppage time penalty against Uruguay that could have sent his side into the semi-finals of the tournament.
However, barring the spot-kick, the former Udinese hitman had a successful tournament, consequently garnering links with regard to a move to West Ham United.
It is said, however, that the east London club have temporarily put the potential transfer on hold to chase Nice forward Loic Remy.
Now The Daily Mail reports that the Black Cats could swoop in and offer the French club their £7 million valuation of the player to snare him from under the Hammers' noses.
Fellow Ghanaian hitman Dominic Adiyiah has been linked with a loan move to the Stadium of Light, while the negotiations over a deal for Olympique Lyonnais defender John Mensah are believed to be in progress.
