Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger keeping tabs on Monaco’s Stephane Ruffier - report
AS Monaco’s Stephane Ruffier is being courted by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, according to a report from Telefoot. The 23-year-old could leave the principality this summer with several suitors showing interest.
It appears Arsenal are the first club to show legitimate interest in the young shot-stopper. The Premier League side already has several goalkeepers under contract, but after a season of inconsistency between the sticks for Arsenal, Wenger is reportedly looking for a replacement.
Ruffier, who was called up to the French national team as a replacement for the injured Cedric Carasso ahead of the World Cup in South Africa, was regarded as a revelation in Ligue 1 last season.
Tipped to be a starter for Les Bleus in the future, Wenger is keen on luring the youngster to London and is expected to offer £8.3 million for the player’s services.
Other clubs reportedly interested in Ruffier’s services include Bayern Munich, Juventus, Napoli and Turkish side Galatasaray.
