Benfica are considering whether to accept a huge £26 million bid from Manchester City for star defender David Luiz, according to Record.
The highly-rated Brazil youth international excelled at the heart of the Portuguese champions' defence last season, and has subsequently been linked with Real Madrid, Chelsea, Inter, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
But Roberto Mancini's side have reportedly attempted to steal a march on their rivals by slapping in an offer for the 23-year-old.
Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira conceded that his club would be willing to sell but only if the price is right, after they already allowed Angel Di Maria to move to Real Madrid.
"David Luiz only leaves Benfica if any club pays the real value in the market," Vieira said.
"We are not interested in the operation because he is a key man for the team and Benfica want to avoid the exit of many men to reduce our power."
