Wolfsburg shock Manchester City by placing £50m price tag on Edin Dzeko - report
Wolfsburg are believed to have placed a mammoth £50 million asking price on Manchester City target Edin Dzeko.
The prolific goal scorer's stock rose steeply as his club managed to win the Bundesliga in 2009 under the care of Felix Magath. The Bosnia international, along with fellow partner in crime, Grafite, managed to break records in the German league by becoming the first strike pair to each score over 20 goals during the course of a season.
The accomplishments and adulation received at the Volkswagen Arena saw the tall forward being linked with a move to a clutch of clubs, including City.
Now The Daily Mail reports that Wolfsburg have placed a £50m price on their hitman, despite the player being keen on a move to ply his trade at Eastlands.
It is said that manager Roberto Mancini considers the asking price a little too expensive even for the seemingly bottomless coffers that the Sky Blues boast of. And the Italian is now believed to be in line to play the waiting game, hoping that Dzeko will push the potential move forward at his end to lower the price.
