Palermo claim to have accepted £28.5m bid from Tottenham Hotspur for Simon Kjaer and Edinson Cavani

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have made a double bid for Simon Kjaer and Edinson Cavani of the sum of £28.5 million.
Kjaer impressed for Denmark during the World Cup 2010 group stages, and whereas Cavani has faced stiff competition from Atletico Madrid’s Diego Forlan and Ajax’s Luis Suarez for a starting place in the Uruguay team.
The Italian club have become resigned to losing both players after they stated their desire to leave this summer, with a host of Europe’s top clubs rumoured to be interested.
The likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Inter have been touted as possible transfer destinations for Kjaer, while City and Wolfsburg are thought to be keen on Cavani.
Kjaer is rumoured to have a £9m buy-out clause in his contract, which means, if true, Spurs have bid £19.5m for Cavani, a fee that would surpass their record signing to bring Darren Bent to White Hart Lane from Charlton Athletic for £16.5m in the summer of 2007.
Zamparini claims Spurs have tabled a bid of €35m [£28.5m] for Kjaer and Cavani and that the offer was too good to turn down.
"Tottenham have bid €35m, an offer we cannot refuse, seeing as the two players have both said they want to leave," Zamparini told Sky Italia television.
"We will reinvest the money for these players," assured Zamparini. "The midfield is my biggest concern, whereas in defence and attack we are fairly covered."
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is keen to bolster his squad ahead of the new season, as the north London club prepare to tackle the Champions League for the first time in their history.
