Ian Holloway insists Blackpool will bring in new players ahead of Premier League bow
Tangerines boss urges supporters to ‘calm down’…
By Danny Hart
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway insists he will be signing new players ahead of their first ever season in the Premier League.
The former Plymouth boss has looked to add to his squad after winning promotion from the Championship via the playoffs, but is yet to make his first signing of the summer.
The Premier League newcomers have been linked with a moves for Arsenal’s Jay Simpson and Leicester City’s DJ Campbell, who spent the latter part of the season on loan at Bloomfield Road, and Holloway has confirmed to supporters that he will be building on his squad of just 16 players.
"Why are people so worried about us not signing anyone, what is wrong with people?" Holloway told Sky Sports.
"We will get it sorted, just calm down. Trust the people I brought in last year. So if you're worried about the people I'll bring in this year, don't.
"If you think we are going to go into this season with what we've got, which is 16 players, then they must be crazy. Now is not the time to worry.
"I've left the chairman with a list of players that he's ringing up about, he'll find out how much they will be and I'll have a look at that when I get back.
"Any players that are bought and sold now will be players that we couldn't afford anyway."
