Brazil & Inter full-back Maicon snubs Manchester City & strikes a move to Real Madrid - report

Real Madrid have reportedly out-flanked Manchester City in the race to sign Maicon from Inter.

The Brazilian defender had been widely tipped to make a move during the summer, with heavy speculation that he could follow former boss Jose Mourinho's footsteps by reuniting with him at the Bernabeu.

Now The Sun reports that the defender has agreed to join the Spanish giants in a £25 million deal, which will see him make the move following his return from World Cup 2010.

It is said that the Eastlands club were hoping to convince the attack-minded full-back to ply his trade in the blue half of Manchester, but the 28-year-old is believed to have told Mourinho that he will join him at the White House during the summer.

Maicon's agent has in the past indicated that his client would like a move to Real, while new boss Rafael Benitez's personal assistant, Amadeo Carboni, recently admitted that Inter could sell their star if a big money bid was lodged for him.
