West Ham United have suffered a double transfer blow after failing to sign Juan Riquelme and Tal Ben Haim, according to the Sunday Mirror.
New Hammers' boss Avram Grant wanted to sign the duo ahead of next season but the club were unwilling to meet the players' wage demands.
Argentine legend Riquelme is currently without a club after being released by Boca Juniors at the end of last season and is reportedly keen to return to Europe.
The 31-year-old, former Villarreal star has been linked with a move to West Ham in recent weeks and his agent recently said the midfielder would prefer a move to Upton Park than Manchester United.
Ben Haim is also out-of-contract after being released by Portsmouth at the end of last season having featured just 22 times for the south-coast side.
