Tottenham Hotspur are ready to bridge the gap with AS Roma between demand and offer for Julio Baptista.
The ex-Arsenal man is liked by north London rivals Spurs and coach Harry Redknapp reportedly offered the Italians £4 million for him.
Il Corriere dello Sport reported on Wednesday that Redknapp had made the first move, but Roma considered it to be far short of their valuation.
And Leggo claims Roma want at least £7.5m — the same money they paid Real Madrid — from the Premier League side for the hitman.
Spurs are now expected to increase their offer and land the Brazilian who, despite being at the World Cup, has failed to impress ever since his arrival from Madrid two years ago.
Baptista has two years left to run on his deal in the capital, but Adriano's arrival on a free deal from Flamengo has led to speculation his time there is up.
